Booking a Park or Sporting Ground

How do I make a booking?

When do I need to book a park/sporting ground?

You will need permission from Council to engage in any of the following activites

  • Organised sport;
  • Organised filming and photography;
  • Picnics, birthday parties or other formal gatherings of over 10 people;
  • Wedding ceremonies (receptions are not permitted);
  • Erection of any structures (eg.Marques, jumping castles);
  • Use of any equipment (eg. public address systems);
  • Corporate promotion events or product sales;
  • Charity events; and,
  • Commercial fitness training activities.

If you are unsure whether a booking is required, please contact Council.

Why do I need to pay to book a park/sporting ground?

Council controls the use of its parks and sporting grounds in order to provide the community with high quality recreation experiences. Council seeks to partially recover the cost of maintaining and improving its parks and sporting grounds by charging user fees.

You also avoid the possibility of Council rangers asking you to cease your activities, you avoid clashes with other park users or Council maintenance teams and you give us a chance to tidy up before your activities.

What does booking allow me to do?

Your booking will give you access to a specific park or sporting ground for a specific period on specific dates, for the purpose of carrying out specific activities.

Sporting ground bookings give you exclusive use of the sporting ground during your allocated booking time. Park bookings do not give you exclusive use to an entire park. We cannot reserve a picnic shelter or barbeque or specific area for you, though we may restrict you to certain areas depending on your activities. You will have to share all available facilities with other park users.

How much will it cost?

The hirer agrees to pay the fees and charges in accordance with the Schedule of Council’s Fees and Charges current at the time of the booking.

The Fees for Park Hire are:

  • Park Booking (1 - 99 people) for less than 2 hours $77.00 (GST inclusive)

A hirer may apply to Council to have the hire fees and charges waived.
