Car sharing

Car sharing is a great option for those who might not need a car to commute to work, but would still like access to one occassionally. Car sharing can save you money and is a convenient option for those who prefer sustainable transport options but still need access to a vehicle every now and again. For more information on car sharing see GoGet.

Traffic management

Council adopted a Local Area Traffic Management (LATM) Plan in 2000 to provide long term traffic management for each of the suburban areas of Leichhardt Local Government Area. Council's Traffic Management Section is responsible for implementing this adopted LATM Plan. The plan is updated annually with available technical data.

A key component of this Plan is the installation of traffic control devices to regulate, warn and guide road users.

Council has an organised and transparent review process for dealing with traffic related issues that have not been identified in the LATM Plan. All traffic management concerns and requests of this nature should be forwarded to Council's Infrastructure and Service Delivery Division - Traffic Section in writing detailing the reason the item is considered necessary. The item will then be investigated, which may involve traffic data collection, analysis and consultation. if a treatment is considered necessary, and if it meets the objectives of the LATM Plan, the detailed proposal will be forwarded to the Traffic Committee for its approval. The Committee's decision is then forwarded to the Ordinary Council meeting for its consideration.
