Further Assistance

If you require any clarification on fire safety matters do not hesitate to contact Council's Fire Safety Officer on  (02) 9367 9091 .  Telephone contact hours are generally between 8:30am and 10:00am, Monday to Friday.

Blank copies of  Fire Safety Certificate Form - 28 KB and  Annual Fire Safety Statement Form - 33 KB are available at Council's Citizen Service Centre on the ground floor of 7-15 Wetherill Street Leichhardt, or alternatively copies may be downloaded from this website.

If you have been issued with a fire safety upgrading Order or are required to undertake works as part of Development Consent conditions, Council suggests that you consider seeking the services of a suitably qualified person such as a Building or Fire Safety Consultant (ie NSW A1 Accredited Certifier) to assist you in addressing the relevant matters.  For further information, contact for Accredited Certifiers can be found on www.bpb.nsw.gov.au or by telephoning the Building Professionals Board on  (02) 9895 5950.

Also, other suitably qualified independent professional consultants who have sufficient knowledge and experience to give proper advice can be found by looking up the extensive listing of fire safety consultants on www.yellowpages.com.au

When selecting this particular person, please ensure that they are specialised in dealing with all aspects of the Building Code of Australia and fire safety related matters.

Accredited fire safety consultants or building code consultants can assist owners by preparing a fire services report nominating the alterations needed so your building complies with Council’s requirements.  These specialist consultants can also manage the whole project, can estimate the work required and provide approximate cost, and can obtain competitive trade quotes as well as co-ordinating relevant contractors to carry out the work.
