Population Information

Leichhardt Council has prepared a series of population projections for the period 2001-2011 that update population projections from 1996-2006 previously prepared and reported to Council in 1993. The development of revised population projections for the municipality have been prompted by the May 2003 boundary change between Sydney City Council and Leichhardt Council, the first release of the 2001 Census data, and the need to prepare updated developer contribution plans.

The document seeks to provide an informed estimate of the likely future population within the Leichhardt LGA up to the year 2011 as well as a detailed analysis of the demographic characteristics and trends within Leichhardt LGA leading up to this period.

Council is currently preparing a population profile based on second release information from the 2001 Census that will be made available in the coming months.
