Resident Information Kit

Community information kits now available

Leichhardt Council has developed a new Community Information Kit  to help improve communication between Council and the community by providing specific information about services and activities that are accessed on a daily basis.

Some time ago, Council embarked on an Organisational Development Program to improve internal processes of Council and the services we provide to the community.  Amongst other improvements, the program identified the need to improve resident’s access to information about Council services and activities.

This resulted in Council developing a Community Information Kit to distribute to new residents, rate payers or businesses to inform them of the services we provide to the community and contact details for these services.

The basic Kit will contain leaflets covering the Parking Permit Schemes Leaflet (currently being updated) for the LGA, Dog Owners Guide Leaflet,  Resource Recover & Waste Management  Citizen Service Centre Information and the  Citizen Service Charter that Council is committed to implementing.

The popular  Out & About Leichhardt Map has been has also been included providing recipients with a detailed map of the entire municipality.

Each publication is designed to complement each other with a similar design and look but then are also able to distribute as a stand alone leaflet by the relevant Council departments.

Further promotion of the kit will include approaching local Real Estate Agents to help distribute the invitation DL card to new home owners or tenants, notifying new home owners through rates notifications, promotion through the website where people will be able to download the leaflets directly and through the community newsletter.

This kit and the new Council website due to be launched in September 2006 are very positive steps towards improving communication with the community and is the start of a wider review of all publications that Council produces in order to improve the information we provide to the community.

For more information on the kits or to request a hard copy of the kit, email your request to leichhardt@lmc.nsw.gov.au call Council on (02) 9367 9222.
