Proposal to relocate 'Taxi Zone' in Darling Street near Beattie Street, Balmain 6pm-8pm
Leichhardt Council is proposing to relocate the current ‘Taxi Zone’ located in Darling Street near the corner of Beattie Street, Balmain during the hours 6.00pm to 8.00am.
The proposed relocation site is on the northern side of Darling Street between Church Street and College Street. In order to remain accessible for day time shoppers and those visiting the nearby medical centre in Beattie Street the current location will continue to be operational during the hours 8.00am to 6.00pm.
The proposal is a result of requests from the Police to relocate the ‘Taxi Zone’ in order to deter anti-social behaviour and address safety issues for taxi users and licensed venue patrons and staff.
Community members and stakeholders are invited to comment on the proposal.
