Volunteering

Skills, Training And Resource Service, otherwise known as STARS, is a free service funded to recruit and train volunteers from community based organisations in the Canterbury, Leichhardt and Marrickville local Government Areas.

If you are interested in volunteering, contact the staff at STARS who will arrange an interview to help you decide which the best volunteer job is for you. This will be based on your interest, availability, experience, skills and reasons for volunteering.

The STARS team has an extensive knowledge of community based organisations in the Leichhardt area and will assist you in finding an appropriate position. STARS can then arrange a meeting for you with the coordinator of the selected organisation. We will contact you later to see how you are going and if you are satisfied with the position.

STARS is funded by the Department of Ageing, Disability and Home Care and by Canterbury, Leichhardt and Marrickville Councils to assist people in finding a rewarding and fulfilling volunteer position. STARS also provides training to volunteers, so ask us about upcoming training courses.
