The local jetty, wharf or pontoon in my local park or at the end of my street needs repair?
Contact Council's Citizens Service Centre on 93679222 and they will take your details and complete a Council Wharves web form. This matter will be referred to Council’s Infrastructure Inspector who will then inspect the damaged structure. You will be contacted by Council once the matter has been investigated.
These requests are treated promptly with action to be taken as soon as possible to make the area safe until repairs can be made.
Upon inspection and depending on the scope of works required, Council’s Infrastructure Inspector will either issue instructions for maintenance or include the wharf or marine structure in a draft works Program. Repairs will be prioritised for inclusion in a future works program subject to available funding.
Cleaning of Wharves
Council’s Cleaning Contractor carries out cleaning operations on commuter wharves three times per week. This involves the collection of litter and discarded fishing tackle and bait.
These wharves are:
- Darling Street Balmain
- Elliott Street Balmain
- Thames Street Balmain East
- Long Nose Point Balmain East
Other wharves in the Council area are cleaned as part of our Area Based Crew operations. These crews carry out wharf and streetcleaning on a 20 day cycle employing a combination of mechanical and manual cleaning tools and machinery.
This involves the collection of litter and discarded fishing tackle and bait.
A wharf is dirty and requires cleaning. When will Council carry out cleaning at this wharf?
If contact Council with your address and contact details, Council’s Streetscapes Coordinator will contact you and let you know when Council’s Cleaning Contractor will carry out these works. Contact Council's Citizens Service Centre on 93679222.
