LEICHHARDT - NSW - 2040
The Leichhardt Local Government Area (LGA) is an inner city area, which is steeped in history, heritage and conservation. Leichhardt is only 13 minutes away from Sydney, however approximately 70% of dwellings are within heritage conservation areas. The municipality also has about 17km frontage to Sydney Harbour and Parramatta River. Not only does this offer Leichhardt as a beautiful and vibrant place to work, it also offers tremendous opportunities and challenges as a staff member.
Leichhardt Municipal Council’s main Administration Centre is located in the hub of Leichhardt directly adjacent to popular Norton Street. Norton Street is well known for it’s coffee shops, restaurants and shopping experiences. The LGA has two shopping malls, covering everything from general groceries to speciality retailers. Palace Cinema on Norton Street offers general, limited release and art house film festivals. Whilst the Italian Forum houses our main Leichhardt Library and specialty events during the year. Leichhardt Park Aquatic Centre which overlooks Iron Cove Bay is only a 22 minute walk or 7 minute drive from the Administration Centre, with ample parking spaces (Please see http://www.lpac.nsw.gov.au/). Leichhardt can also boast of 79 parks, gardens and reserves covering some 84 hectares, providing both active and passive recreation opportunities.
The suburbs within the Leichhardt LGA are Leichhardt, Lilyfield, Balmain (incl. Balmain East), Birchgrove, Rozelle and Annandale. To see maps and further information please visit the following links:

Since Leichhardt is an inner city LGA, our staff and residents can still enjoy City attractions such as Sydney Fish Market, Darling Harbour, Anzac Bridge and Birkenhead Point Factory Outlets with ease. For sport fans, Leichhardt is also home to soccer teams and the Wests Tigers Rugby League team who still play some of their games at Leichhardt Oval.
